What we believe

The followings statements are a summary of our basic beliefs as a church, and are based on the Evangelical Alliance Statement of Faith.  In some areas there's a lot more that could be said; and there are other areas which aren't covered here too.  But this sets out the beliefs that for us, go right to the heart of what it means to follow Jesus in obedience to the Bible.

  • We believe in the sovereignty of God - Father, Son and Holy Spirit - in creation, redemption and final judgment.
  • The Divine inspiration of the Bible and its entire trustworthiness and supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.
  • The universal sinfulness and guilt of all mankind, making them subject to God's wrath and condemnation.
  • Jesus is the Son of God and died to take the punishment for our sins.
  • Jesus, through His death and resurrection, has provided the only way to God and eternal life.
  • The power of the Holy Spirit to live within us, and in so doing to regenerate and cleanse us.  He also has the power to impart His gifts to us today.
  • We are part of one universal church - God's church, of which Jesus is the head.  We are committed to His command to share the gospel throughout the world.
  • We believe that Jesus will return personally in power and glory.
